alchemy

Alchemy is the process of transmuting baser matter into something greater, usually a worthless object into gold. In the context of the American Midwest, alchemy can transform industrial scraps, left-overs, waste or rejected materials into an integrated whole. Made from Rookwood Tile rejects and reclaimed lumber, the pavilion has made its home at several exhibits, including Columbus, Indiana's 2017 Design Exposition, and later at the Freespace Exhibition in Venice alongside the Venice Biennale in 2018. With each move, the installation changes its material context, connecting by proxy shared human experiences of material and space.
